FACES OF MANAYUNK: Sean from Pilgrim Roasters

What makes Pilgrim Roasters unique?

I think the main difference is that we put our customers first. It sounds cliché, but our customers are always our main priority. We try to get to know everyone by their first name and just create a great experience rather than just a great cup of coffee. That is definitely what sets us apart from the rest.

Why do you think Manayunk is a great location for a unique coffee shop like Pilgrim Roasters?

I think we're doing so well here in Manayunk because it is such a relaxing and chill community which matches the vibe of our shop. The community aspect of Manayunk is amazing and everyone wants to support new, unique things. We aren't trying too hard to be "hipster" or "relevant," we just focus on what we do best and the people of Manayunk seem to love it.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Honestly, the people. I love being able to turn someone's day around and bring a smile to their face. I think we've been so successful because our customers know we put them first. They know they'll always have a great experience and I love giving them that great experience.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

I wish I could give a good answer, but I feel like I have it made here! I genuinely enjoy the guys I work with and I love what I do every day. There are up and downs to every job but I can't complain. Coffee just makes everyone happy!

What is your must-have drink?

My daily go-to is whatever espresso we have brewing fresh that day. I don't think I have a specific favorite but that's what keeps me going everyday!

I love Manayunk because...

I grew up my whole life in Britain so moving to Manayunk has been incredible because it's unlike a lot of other towns I've experienced here. Having one main street that everything revolves around gives it such a great community feel and reminds me of a European neighborhood.

Once again, keep an eye out for us on the streets - you might be our next featured resident or visitor! If you are a resident or visitor of Manayunk that is interested in being featured, email for details!
