FACES OF MNYK: CJ from Bayou

Bayou Bar & Grill is located at 4245 Main Street. This tavern serves seafood and bar food in a casual space with sports on the TVs, and offers outdoor seating. We stopped in to talk to CJ, a bartender at Bayou. She loves the tight-knit community of Manayunk and has high praise for the wings that the Bayou serves. We sat down with CJ for her to tell us more about Bayou and its awesome atmosphere.

What is your favorite part of this job?

I love hanging out with the people of Manayunk and meeting new people almost every day. In the bar industry, you start great friendships with the people coming in.

One word to describe Bayou and why?

Staple. Bayou is the oldest bar in Manayunk and I view it as a staple of Manayunk.

What is unique about Bayou?

Something unique about this place that everyone who comes in here says they enjoy homey feel of it. We want you to feel like you're sitting at home with your friends while you're here having a great time.

If one drink that you serve could describe your personality, what is it and why?

Miller Lite, because its plain and simple.

What night during the week regarding your specials is your favorite?

Mondays and Tuesdays without a doubt. On those nights, our special is 25 cent wings, which are the best in the city of Philadelphia 25 years running.

When you're sitting down looking at your menu, what is your go-to choice and why?

Wings. Like I said they're fantastic. They're easy and fun to eat, and we have some great choices of sauces here for them.

I love Manayunk because.....

The great community and once again the great people. The people that come into our bar are more than customers, you again build friendships with those awesome people.

Once again, keep an eye out for us on the streets - you might be our next featured resident or visitor! If you are a resident or visitor of Manayunk that is interested in being featured, email for details!
