Everyone has their special "thing." From coffee to arts to good wi-fi, find out what makes Manayunk so special to Mike!
Are you from Manayunk? If not, what brings you here?
I'm from Roxborough, so I'm really close. I work remotely so I come to Volo coffee to work once a week maybe.
What attracts you to Volo Coffeehouse?
It's one of the few non-chain coffee places here, which is really great. The staff is nice, the food is really awesome, and they have wi-fi that doesn't suck, so it's good.
Have you ever been to any Manayunk events?
Yeah, I do a lot of stuff at The Grape Room. I try to go to the open band jams every Wednesday. If there's a band I know playing on weekends, I try to go to that, and they do improv shows, so I try to go to those, too.
What draws you to the Manayunk arts scene?
Art, music... the scene exists. I just feel like the musicians are of a super high caliber, which was really surprising when I first came here. I came from a smaller town where there's not as much talent, so it's kind of cool coming here and seeing a lot of talent.
Do you recommend any particular places for visitors?
Han Dynasty's great, get the hottest thing. Grape Room is great. Volo Coffeehouse: great... It just depends what you're doing. Just do as much as possible, take chances, life is short *laughs*.
Why do you love Manayunk?
Let's keep this monolithic: The art and music scene is pretty great!
