KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Manayunk Arts Festival 2017

We’re ready to kickoff the official start to summer with our biggest event of the year, The Manayunk Arts Festival! Before that happens, though, we’re here to answer the most frequently asked questions by festival visitors so you know what to expect the weekend of the festival.

What is the Manayunk Arts Festival?

The annual Manayunk Arts Festival, which is celebrating its 28th year, is the tri-state’s largest outdoor, juried arts festival! We invite you to historic Main Street where there will be nearly 300 artists presenting the best variety of fine arts and crafts from across the country. It is a rain or shine event, so come dressed according to the weather and make sure you stay hydrated!

When and where is it happening?

The festival begins on Saturday, June 24th from 11 AM - 7 PM and continues on Sunday from 11 AM - 6 PM. It stretches all the way down Main Street from Shurs Lane to Green Lane, so it will be closed for the duration of the festival.

What types of artists will be at the festival this year?

The 2017 artists and vendors feature seven different disciplines: Fiber, Glass & Ceramics, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Painting & Drawing, Photography, and Wood & Sculpture. We will also be having our Emerging Artist Tent for the fifth year at its new location on Grape Street, where you can find even more local talent! Stop by to see the wide range of talents from artists who are young or are just beginning to make a name for themselves. To see the complete list of artists attending the festival, visit our website here.

Where should I look if I'm trying to find a particular artist's booth?

To make it easy for you to find a certain artist, we have a festival map that shows where all artists are located throughout the entire weekend! If you want to download a printable version, click here for the outside of the map and here for the inside of the map.

Do artists accept credit card payments? Where are the nearest ATMs?

Some artists do accept credit card payments, while others only accept cash. There are a few different ATMs that are easily accessible in Manayunk, located at the following places:

  • Chloe’s Corner (4162 Main Street)
  • Palm Tree Market (115 Levering Street)
  • Salon L (4120 Main Street)
  • Smokin’ John’s BBQ (4258 Main Street)

How do I get to Manayunk?

There are many ways to get here, but it’s up to you to decide which works best.

  • Driving: There are two exits off of I-76 that take you into Manayunk: Exit 338 (Belmont Ave/Green Lane) and Exit 340A (Lincoln Drive/Kelly Drive). We recommend parking at the Green Lane lot (located on Green Lane between Main Street and Cresson Street) or parking at either the Wissahickon or Ivy Ridge Station and taking the train to the Manayunk stop.
  • Shuttle Services: Shuttle buses will run from two different parking lots down to the Manayunk Arts Festival. Pick up the shuttles at 555 City Avenue (Bala Cynwyd) or at the Ivy Ridge Train Station (4910 Umbria Street), and for a round-trip donation to North Light Community Center, you can be dropped off right at the entrance to the festival!

  • Public Transportation: Don’t feel like driving? You can ride SEPTA right into Manayunk! For schedules and fare rates, contact SEPTA at (215) 580-7800 or on the web at www.septa.org for more information. Choose any of these three lines:
  • Taxis, Ubers, and Lyfts: Call a taxi or download the Uber app or Lyft app to get a ride into Manayunk!
  • Trail Directions: Stay active and eco-friendly by biking to the Manayunk Arts Festival! Take Kelly Drive from Center City or the Schuykill River Trail from all parts of the Philadelphia region, or visit the Bike Coalition of Greater Philadelphia for more details and biking maps.

Will there be food to eat at the festival?

There will be many food options from our local Manayunk restaurants available for festival visitors! Some of our restaurants will be hosting al fresco dining or serving food right on Main Street including:

Where are public bathrooms located in Manayunk?

There will be public restrooms located at Lock Street, Cotton Street, and Levering Street.

I read your entire blog post but my question was not answered. Where do I go now?
