What better way to find out the ins and outs of Manayunk than from the people themselves? It’s another week where we hit the streets for Why I Love MNYK, to ask Manayunk visitors and residents why they love where they live, shop, dine, and play.
This week we met Christina and Sam outside of Volo Coffeehouse, who are moving to Manayunk from New York City. Check out our interview with them to find out why they are moving to Manayunk and what they love about the area so far.
What drew you to Manayunk as a place to live?
Christina: Proximity to the city as well as proximity to work. I was also drawn by the cost of living here and just the general vibe and culture of the area.
Sam: Yeah, it’s just like Hoboken and New York City, which is where we’re from. So it’s close enough to Center City that it’s so easy to get there but then it’s not right in the city, which I like.
During your few visits to Manayunk, do you have any restaurants or places to hang out that you like so far?
Christina: I really like the tea from this place [Volo Coffeehouse]!
Sam: Yeah, I’m looking forward to trying all of the restaurants in Manayunk!
What excites you most about living in Manayunk?
Christina: The culture of the area as well as the food. It seems like it has its own specific vibe that is separate from the city but also close enough to where you can easily go enjoy Philly.
Sam: I agree, I’m also excited for all of the restaurants.
What recommendations do you give to other people moving to Manayunk or would you recommend it as a place to live?
Christina: I would definitely suggest it as a place to live, and I actually have suggested it to other people as a place to live. I would also like suggestions myself as a new person moving into the area!
As incoming residents, what do you love about Manayunk?
Christina: I love relaxing on the street, and just seeing different types of people is nice. I love all the dogs here too, which is probably my favorite part!
Sam: I like walking around the streets. We were here once before for a few hours, and I feel like I actually live here already when I don’t yet, which is really cool. I also love all the dogs, too.
Welcome to the city, Christina and Sam! Once again, keep an eye out for us on the streets - you might be our next featured resident or visitor! If you are interested in being featured, email for details!
