What better way to find out the ins and outs of Manayunk than from the people themselves? This week, we are introducing our newest blog series, Why I Love MNYK, where we hit the streets to ask Manayunk visitors and residents why they love where they live, shop, dine, and play.

To kick off the series, we stopped into Volo Coffeehouse to interview Tess, one of Manayunk’s local residents, to talk about her local favorites and why the neighborhood is a great place for students!

Are you a resident of Manayunk or are you just visiting?

I’m a resident, I moved here six months ago. I’m a rising senior at St. Joe’s.

What drew you to living in Manayunk?

A lot of St. Joe’s students live in Manayunk, especially the upperclassmen. It’s also really fun and decently affordable.

What's your favorite thing to do here in Manayunk?

My favorite thing is probably going to the Goat’s Beard for happy hour, which is really good. I also just like walking around, shopping, eating, and drinking.

If you're eating out in Manayunk, what would your first choice be?

My favorite restaurants are The Goat’s Beard, Manayunk Brewing Company, and Taqueria Feliz.

What recommendations do you have for new residents or visitors of Manayunk?

A happy hour tour of all the different bars in the area.

What do you love about Manayunk?

The convenience of everything being close by, like restaurants and bars, and again, that it’s affordable.
