Remix is a designer consignment shop run by two sisters with amazing style and a passion for unique designer pieces. Ljupka started Remix as a pop-up consignment shop on Main Street and with her sister Tanya’s help. The pop-up shop has grown over the past six years into a staple of Main. We sat down with Tanya to talk about Remix, fashion, and Manayunk.

What’s the meaning behind the name Remix?

“The name is the mix between the new and the old.” Tanya explains that their store features vintage pieces from well known designers like Gucci, as well as clothing and accessories from up and coming designers in New York City.

Describe your style in three words.

“Edgy, rock n roll, and a little touch of classic.”

If you could only wear one designer for the rest of your life, who would it be?

Tanya loves Japanese designers and doesn’t hesitate to pick Comme des Garçons.

What is your favorite piece in the store right now?

You can tell that Tanya loves every piece she and her sister collect because she struggles to pick just one! She declares her favorite things in the store to be leather jackets and dresses. She shrugs, and adds handbags to the list.

What do you like most about your job?

Again, Tanya’s passion for Remix and her job bubbles to the surface as she explains, “I don’t feel like this is a job; it’s so creative.” She goes on to explain her passion for the research behind the pricing and craftsmanship of each piece that comes into the store.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Tanya spends her time off work enjoying the nightlife in Manayunk with her friends and going to Pretzel Park with her sister.

What is your best style advice for summer?

Without missing a beat she declares, “Just be yourself! As long as you feel comfortable in the clothes you are wearing you can pull anything off.”

Where do you find fashion inspiration?

Tanya mentions social media and reading magazines, but emphasizes that most of her fashion inspiration comes from everyday people she sees on the streets of Manayunk.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

She takes a longer time to think of her answer, then ends ups settling with continuing to work at Remix with her sister and travelling more.
