MANAYUNK

It was Halloween night about five or so years ago. Darbi finished up working a serving shift at Manayunk Tavern, and she and her lady friends decided to make a night of it, and headed to Pitchers Pub. They were looking pretty fierce, all decked out in their Halloween best afterall. Dave was working behind the bar and was looking pretty fierce himself, dressed-up as a “rocker” complete with wig. Darbi and Dave, magically, started talking (neither remembers how their conversation started exactly) which turned into a wig exchange. Dave must have looked quite fetching in Darbi’s bright red long-haired wig, as this led to some photos together, and they ended up exchanging phone numbers.

Good things come to those who wait, right!? Well, about a year, yeah that’s right an entire year later, Darbi finally heard from Dave. They both happened to be out on Main Street for some Sunday fun and he invited her to meet-up with him. He lured her in by sending her a photo of a mutual regular of both of theirs, who was sitting at the bar wearing a tinfoil hat. She couldn’t resist the opportunity to see such a thing, and to feast her eyes on the guy who took a year to call. They spent the rest of that day together, and he took her out again the following day! Close to three years, and two spoiled dogs later, they are still together and adding more and more to their Manayunk love story with every passing day.
