AROUND TOWN: Film Crew at North Light
North Light Community Center was paired with the film company, Three Blind Men and Elephant Productions, through a random drawing at the recent kick-off of the Philly DoGooder Hackathon II. Generocity, the platform for social good in Greater Philadelphia, is the financial sponsor and lead organizer for Philly DoGooder II.
At the kickoff on Martin Luther King Day, members of 21 social impact organizations (both nonprofits and for-profits were encouraged to participate) were paired with 21 filmmakers to help them create a digital version of their organization’s compelling story of their mission to do good. After the teams were formed they were charged to come up with a storyline and next steps to make their visions become a reality. The teams now have until January 31st to craft a storyline, shoot, edit and complete the production.
Hugh Brownstone, the founder of Three Blind Men and an Elephant Productions, along with his wife Claudia, and daughter, Maggie, have already spent two full days filming the activity at North Light and various locations around the neighborhood, conducting interviews with partners and supporters of the center.
The project culminates at an awards ceremony on March 12th at University of the Arts Hamilton Hall with a screening of the winning films which will be determined by a public vote.

North Light Community Center is a multi-service, community based non-profit organization located at 175 Green Lane.
