Philly Fan-tastic Finds, located at 4320 Main Street, is just about to celebrate its 3rd week being open and it couldn’t come at a better time because this weekend the district will be participating in Small Business Saturday on November 30!
To much of my excitement, I had the chance to browse the space with store manager, Marybeth O’Neill, and check out their merchandise. From the walls of autographed sports and music memorabilia to collectible Barbie Dolls and action figures, this shop really has something for everyone! Even the little ones are taken care of with the stock of holiday and sports related toys.
I was able to snap a few pictures of items in their collection, but with so much to look at, these photos barely scratch the surface of all they have to offer! A few of my personal favorites have to be the autographed Michael Jackson and Harry Potter cast photos, a boxing glove signed by Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield & along with a few more of the greats, and the vintage Marilyn Monroe and Jackie O Barbie Dolls! And while the true level of value is ultimately in the eye of the beholder, one of the highest priced items is said to be the autographed photo of the original “Rat Pack”.
When you browse the collection, you will quickly see the wide price range from item to item. Although some pieces are much pricier than others, store owner Steve Smink is always willing to work with customers, he even offers a lay-away program!
After asking why Manayunk was chosen as a pop-up location, Marybeth shared that Manayunk is a district that she and Steve are both “very familiar with and comfortable in.” It seemed that there was an opening in the market for this unique type of business in the neighborhood, she said.
Philly Fan-tastic Finds is not just a place to shop, (even though that’s a great place to start), but it is also about community. The store brings people in and each item serves as a conversation starter amongst friends and strangers alike. With many coming from Steve’s own personal collection, each piece comes with its own special story.
While nothing is currently set in stone, Philly Fan-tastic Finds would love to become a permanent Manayunk business, but right now they’re just hoping to stay around as long as possible. Manayunk is the only on-site location as of now, but you can place orders online at any time.
So whether it’s for yourself or for a loved one, we can guarantee that your perfect holiday gift is waiting for you at Philly Fan-tastic Finds!
They are open every day of the week, 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday – Sunday.
