EVENT RECAP: A Fun, Food filled Weekend at Manayunk StrEAT Food Festival
The 2nd StrEAT Food Festival, held this past Saturday, April 13, was a great success! As a kick off to Manayunk Restaurant Week, guests were able to get a little taste of what Manayunk has to offer. On the beautiful spring afternoon, Main Street was lined with 30 food trucks from the Philadelphia area. The strawberry festival theme was a huge hit for vendors and visitors alike.  Some of the food trucks were offering a variety of strawberry flavored treats such as cupcakes, salsa, salad, and much more. Visitors were able to vote on which truck was their most preferred. This festival’s favorite was The Cow & The Curd, who sold appetizing Wisconsin Cheddar cheese curds. Although there were longs lines at each truck, that can only mean one thing: delicious food!

In addition to the food trucks, visitors were able to roam into the district shops and check out some of the sidewalk sales. The window displays were enjoyable to gaze at while strolling down Main Street. Latitudes and Longitudes was chosen as the crowd favorite for their beautifully decorated strawberry themed window. Gourmet food vendors and crafts were found in the Strawberry Fields Promenade as well as the Berry Delicious Market. The vendors sold an array of delectable foods, vintage goods, and even fruit jewelry!

A restaurant tour took place which highlighted some of Manayunk’s finest eateries. Some offerings included refreshing strawberry drinks, tasty strawberry salads, and treats to satisfy one’s sweet tooth. The crowd favorite was Bisou Bistro who created a 30 day Strawberry Margarita. People were very impressed!

To take a break from all the eating many people enjoyed the live music that was being played at the Strawberry Jammin Pavilion, which was located on Cotton Street. The Fitch Brothers, Rhondo and the Goodes, and Laura Cheadle Band took the stage at different points throughout the day. Dancers from Merge Dance Studio entertained the crowd by performing between each set. Listening to the music was a great way to digest the food and gear up for another round of eating!

As a kickoff to Manayunk Restaurant Week, be sure to check out Manayunk.com for a list of participating restaurants. Restaurant Week only lasts until April 26th so make sure you book a reservation!
