EVENT RECAP: Holidays in Manayunk

EVENT RECAP: Holidays in Manayunk

Many people got into the holiday spirit by attending local events in Manayunk. On December 1st, 2012, people were able to kick off their holiday season with the annual “Santa on Ice” as well as the Tree Lighting.

With “Santa on Ice” starting in the early afternoon, many people enjoyed the fabulous work of ice sculptor Rob Capone. Over the course of four hours, everyone was able to watch Capone transform a block of ice into Santa’s sleigh. Santa himself made an appearance to take pictures with everyone in his brand new, ice carved sleigh.

The fun didn’t stop there! As soon as it became dark, everyone celebrated by lighting the Manayunk Christmas tree. And honestly, who doesn’t love a huge, lit up tree? Besides snapping those Christmas card worthy pictures, many enjoyed the live B101 Christmas music, as well as dance and vocal performers.  No one stayed cold because Rival Bros Coffee Truck was there with plenty of hot chocolate and coffee to enjoy!

The one extra perk that everyone enjoyed besides kicking off their holiday season in Manayunk: free parking.  Keep in mind for next holiday season that metered parking is free on Saturdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas! So mark your calendars to experience Manayunk on any Saturday during the next holiday season.
