What inspired the opening of Vamp Boutique?
Well, actually it’s weird because I was walking past [the storefront] one day and saw the store was vacant. I had always wanted to open my own boutique so I said, you know what? I’m going to go for it and see what happens! And here I am 13 years later!
Could you tell me a little about the items you sell at Vamp Boutique?
We sell women’s apparel, clothing, also accessories like handbags and sometimes one of a kind items.
What makes Vamp Boutique unique?
Well, we are unique because a lot of our styles are styles you’ll see on Pinterest where people wonder, “wow, where can I get that stuff?” And you can get those styles at Vamp Boutique! We have unique items mixed with trendy pieces, mixed with styles that both younger and older women can wear. They can choose items and put their own twist on the styles.
Are there any new fashion trends that have caught your eye this year?
There are not necessarily new [trends], but there are many replays on old fashion trends that have caught my eye. We always do bright colors but nowadays we have been doing extremely bright. Neon has been a big trend. The 80s are coming back and the 70s are coming back with the bell bottoms and the crotchet wear.
What is your favorite part about working in Manayunk?
Working in Manayunk has a beautiful atmosphere when coming to work everyday. There is a strong community feel. Most of the business owners greet each other with a smile on their face. They all know each other and they like to collaborate. I have been here for over a decade now so I have seen the area change with a lot of young professionals moving in. They are really fashion savvy and I am loving it because they love our stuff!
Thanks so much for chatting today, Theresa. It was great meeting you!
