Brazilian Wax is pretty new to Manayunk, right? When did you guys open?
Yeah! We’re not even a month old.
What kind of treatments do you have here?
We do waxing for men and women! We also have body treatments for “below the belt” along with lash lifts, which are kind of like a moisturizing solution for your lashes! I actually just got it done and it just makes them a little more open and then we also put a tint on there too as well while we are perming.
Is there a specific treatment you would recommend for someone coming here?
I love the lash lift, I’m obsessed with it! I also love our v-facial, which is great for ingrown hairs or any hyper pigmentation and irritation that you might get from waxing. We also have a really great b-facial which is great for exfoliation or if you are going to the beach! I love all of the treatments!
Your prices are really great!
Yes, thank you! We just wanted to be really accessible to everybody. You can get a few treatments here for the same price as one somewhere else.
How did you get into skincare and this business?
I’ve been an esthetician for a while, almost 8 years so I’ve worked in doctor’s offices, medical spas, salons. I think it makes people feel good about themselves and lets people kind of chill out for awhile.
Where did the name Brooklyn Wax come from?
Actually our business owners were in Brooklyn when they decided to start getting into the waxing business, so here it is--Brooklyn Wax! All of our rooms are named after the different districts of Brooklyn.
Do you have a favorite part about working here and Manayunk in general?
I love the pink, obviously! And Main Street is so cool, I love all of the little shops so of course I’m always walking up and down shopping. I also love my co-workers, they’re just fabulous and everyone is just so interesting that I’ve hired. They love the history and skincare and some of them even do special effects makeup...they’re pretty cool!
