About Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday was created in 2010 by American Express in response to small business owners’ most pressing need: creating more demand for their products and services. It began in 2010 when American Express founded Small Business Saturday to help small businesses get more exposure during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year.
Here in Manayunk, Small Businesss Saturday is important to the merchants. Since most businesses are owner-operated the experience is unique unlike any other shopping experience. Besides shoppping along Main Street, this past year's Small Business Saturday in Manayunk also included pictures with Santa Clause, carolers, as well as music provided by the local radio station B101. There were also raffles as well as crafts for the children to enjoy!
