What better way to find out the ins and outs of Manayunk than from the people themselves? It’s another week where we hit the streets for Why I Love Manayunk, to ask Manayunk visitors and residents why they love where they live, shop, dine, and play.

This week we talked to Brooks, who is getting settled in here in Manayunk. Find out his favorite things to do in Manayunk as well as his food recommendations for newer Manayunk residents.

Do you reside in Manayunk?

Yes, I am a senior at SJU and have lived here for a little over a year and a half.

Where do you find yourself going on a night out in Manayunk?

Friday and Saturday nights, I find myself going to Manayunk Brewing Company and JD McGillicuddy's. I really enjoy the atmosphere there, especially the back deck of the brew pub while the weather is still nice.

What food places do you find yourself eating at?

Money is a little tight since I'm still in school, so I find myself going to wing nights two to three times a week for cheaper priced good food. McGillicuddy's, Castle Roxx and Bayou have great wing nights throughout the week. Since the Sixers, Flyers and Eagles are starting, I will find myself going to those restaurants more often during game days.

Since you mentioned Philly sports, where is your favorite spot to go watch games?

I find myself going to Castle Roxx for mostly all Eagles games. They have great deals on Sundays. Also, I stay in a lot Saturday during the day to watch college football and order take-out from Zesto's.

Have you been to any MDC events yet?

I have been to a few Stroll the Streets this summer on Cotton Street. I had a great time there and enjoyed the unique food trucks they had.
