WHY I LOVE MNYK: Meet Sean

What better way to find out the ins and outs of Manayunk than from the people themselves? It’s another week where we hit the streets for Why I Love Manayunk, to ask Manayunk visitors and residents why they love where they live, shop, dine, and play.

This week we talked to Sean, who is getting settled in here in Manayunk. Find out his favorite things to do in Manayunk as well as his food recommendations for newer Manayunk residents.

Do you live in Manayunk or are you just visiting?

Yes, I currently reside here in Manayunk. I moved here two years ago on Pennsdale Street, a couple blocks up from Main Street.

Where do you find yourself going on a night out in Manayunk?

I've made the hike up to Castle Roxx pretty frequently. I enjoy the "homey" vibe there. There are always nice, social people there as well. The drinks and food are reasonably priced too.

What food place would you recommend for a first time visitor of Manayunk?

I really like Sorrentino's. I find myself most Saturdays getting take-out breakfast and lunch from there a lot. They have great breakfast sandwiches and cheesesteaks. Once again, their food is also reasonably priced as well.

Have you been to any MDC events? If so how was it?

I went to the most recent StrEAT Food Festival in April with some friends. I remember that weather was great and I sampled a lot of great food from a lot of food trucks. At the end of our walk down Main Street, there was a great acoustic singer performing outside of Mad River. I had a blast.

Why did you chose to live in Manayunk?

I just graduated college four years ago and I had a lot of friends that lived here while there were in school and they loved Manayunk. I'm close to center city where I work so it was a great fit for me.
