Thursdays this summer mean one thing: Manayunk’s Stroll the Street is back! What better way to wind down your workweek than with a stroll down Main Street?

This year’s Stroll the Street begins June 1 and runs through September 7. It’s a weekly family-friendly block party where you can take it easy while you walk, shop, and eat. From 5 p.m. until sundown, Manayunk will be offering special treats for our Stroll the Street visitors! Each event will have a different theme, so there is something for everyone to enjoy throughout the season. Strollers can also enjoy new food trucks each week, sidewalk sales and in-store events, and $5 appetizers and cocktails at their favorite Manayunk restaurants. Thursdays will also boast live music on Main Street, the perfect addition for your summer stroll. Talk about a weekday win!

On June 1, the first Stroll theme will be “Meet Your Neighbor Night.” We don’t often make the time to get to know the people who live and work with us, so this is your chance. Special guests will include Councilman Jones’ office, Friends of Pretzel Park, the Roxborough YMCA, the 5th District, and North Light Community Center. They will set up shop on Cotton Street with information about neighborhood programs, and how you can get more involved with the community. Stick around for a grand entrance from the Fire Department on their fire engine! If you want to meet new people or just hang out with your local buddies, we invite you to come and stay awhile.

And get your popcorn ready! Once a month throughout the summer, we’re hosting three special movie nights on Cotton Street. Have a laugh with Gru and his minions with “Despicable Me” on June 29, fear ‘The Beast’ with the gang from “The Sandlot” on July 27, and get your tap shoes ready with “La La Land” on August 31. If you’ve been admiring the famous works of art on Main Street, stop by on June 8 for “Inside Out Night,” and learn everything you need to know about the outdoor exhibit from our friends at The Philadelphia Museum of Art.
