EVENT RECAP: Support Manayunk Shops with Small Business Saturday

Black Friday shopping comes with a lot of baggage. No I’m not talking about the gifts you purchased from the great deals you scored, but the large crowds of people, long lines, and zero sleep. You can beat the overcrowding stores, by waiting one extra day to start your holiday shopping on Small Business Saturday in Manayunk.

Small Business Saturday, which was founded in 2010, has helped small local businesses gain exposure during the busy holiday shopping season. Main Street in Manayunk is lined with a variety of shops and opened up at 11AM on November 24, 2012. Besides shopping, the public was able to enjoy the carolers who walked up and down Main Street singing, pictures with Santa Clause, as well as music and activities with the local radio station B-101. There were also raffles as well as crafts that children were able to enjoy!

Shopping locally allows you to have a better experience then you would have in the mall. Why shop at an overcrowded, stuffy store when you could help out the local shops in Manayunk. Many people enjoyed Small Business Saturday in Manayunk because of the experience they had. Since many stores are owner operated, the customers were able to interact with the owners themselves.

Although this holiday season just passed, it’s never too early to make plans. Consider shopping in Manayunk this upcoming season, and you will be sure to have a blast.
