FACES OF MNYK: Meet Winnie from Winnie's!

What inspired Winnie's to open in Manayunk?
Winnie: "I originally came to work here in this same location, over 20 years ago, and I managed the restaurant. It ended up being a good fit for me because my family is from the area and I liked all the people I interacted with. Eventually, I ended up buying the business, and it was the right thing to do."

What type of food can customers find on your menu?
Winnie: "A lot of healthy and unhealthy choices made from fresh ingredients and love. It's just good, wholesome food."

What makes Winnie's unique compared to other restaurants on Main Street?
Winnie: "Winnie's strives to make you feel like a regular customer every time you come in. We're very intense with making sure every customer is served-well and treated-well."

What are your most popular items on the menu?
Winnie: "I know this sounds a little funny, but one of the best things we make is the Bloody Mary. You can have it made in different ways; we can infuse it with bacon or jalapeno, or we have the wonderful, original Bloody Mary mix. I think one of the most popular cocktails is the Cucumber Gimlet. That seems to be one of our customers go-to's and people really love it. We also have our homemade Sangria, which has made us so popular over the years."

What's your favorite part about working in Manayunk?
Winnie: "The owners of the businesses are mostly owner-operated and everyone meets together in different segments of Manayunk. My servers take classes at The Wall Cycling Studio, I go to Breaking Point Fitness to do cross-fit, someone else is taking personal training sessions down at Goals Fit. We just all kinda mesh and stay local. It's not like you feel obligated to, it's just that you want to."

Thank you Winnie for taking the time out of your busy schedule to chat with us today! Make sure to visit Winnie's for great brunch and happy hour specials throughout the week!
